Chris “Slickbald” Andre began working and tooling leather in Longmont Colorado at age 6, learning from his mother on their farm. Doing very well with the craft in 4-H, Chris took his tools with him into the Marine Corps in 1985, carving when he could. Going full time in 2011, training with several Masters, he has since won many awards with his art work and gun leather. Having worked primarily in heavily carved Cowboy Action gun leather, Chris also makes all manners of leather items from spur straps to saddles. In 2016, Chris was voted into the American Pistolsmith’s Guild, its 2ndonly holster maker member.

Chris began teaching in his shop and at US trade shows in 2012 as well as publishing instructional pattern packs for holsters and sheaths. Chris has recently begun teaching at the European Leather Worker & Artist Trade Show in France and now Holland, Germany, Switzerland and soon, China.
